What if you could blur the boundaries between serial and handmade production? Bryan Stoel’s love of craftsmanship and his interest in glass sparked his imagination to experiment with both as a way of enhancing the relationship between man and matter. After some initial ‘failed’ experiments with moulds of glass fibre that melted because of the high temperature, Bryan replaced the recycled glass with Italian glass that has a lower melting point (1300 degrees C). The irregular flow of the liquid glass caused the heat-resistant textile moulds to change shape slightly every time he blew into them. That gave the resulting series of objects a soft-looking finish that contrasts with the hardness of material.
